Panama and Colombia to start negotiations on a free trade agreement in January 2010.

Panamanian Minister of Commerce and Industry expects to begin negotiations on a free trade agreement with Colombia in January 2010. Colombia is a 218 billion dollar economy expected to grow at 2.9%. This trade agreement will be another of several that Panama has negotiated or plans to negotiate. In addition to current agreements with Taiwan and Chile, there is a pending agreement with the US. Colombia also has a trade agreement with the US awaiting ratification.
