Panama and President Ricardo Martinelli are picked as one of the top five events of 2009 by the Latin Business Chronicle

The Latin Business Chronicle selected Panama as the fourth largest event in Latin America in 2009. Larger than Panama were Brazil’s selection to host the 2016 Olympic games in Rio, Brazil’s resilient economy and China’s increasing influence in the region. The Chronicle noted the economic plan of the Martinelli administration, the expansion of the canal and the construction of the metro as reasons for selecting Panama as a top event.
