THE PANAMA CANAL AUTHORITY CLOSED ITS FISCAL YEAR 2010 WITH EARNINGS FROM TOLLS AMOUNTING TO $1,482,000,000.00

The Panama Canal Authority closed its fiscal year 2010 that ended on September 30 with earnings of $1,482,000,000.00, reflecting an increase of 3% compared to last year when its income was $1,438,000,000.00.
The Canal’s administrator, Alberto Alemán Zubieta, stated that this income is from tolls only, and does not include other earnings from services provided by the Canal such as electrical energy and potable water.
Another accomplishment for the Panama Canal during September was having reached 300.7 million tons of cargo for the fiscal year and, at 6:00 a.m. on September 4, completed one million transits since the Canal was inaugurated on August 15, 1914.
