PHYLLIS MARIE POWERS IS THE NEXT US AMBASSADOR IN PANAMA

The US government recently announced that Phyllis Marie Powers will be the new Ambassador in Panama, replacing Barbara J. Stephenson who was assigned to serve the US Embassy in the United Kingdom.
A career diplomat, this will be Powers’ first assignment as an ambassador, and is due to arrive in Panama in September. One of the subjects that she will be dealing with is the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries that has been on hold for several years awaiting Senate approval. She joined the US Diplomatic Service in 1978.
