Panamanian Ports see a 7.6% Increase in Traffic

The Panamanian ports have seen a 7.6% increase in container traffic compared to the same period from last year. Officials are hoping that the increase reflects an improving economy and a growing trend. While the frequency of traffic increased, containers did not see a similar increase. This could be due to the arrival of heavy equipment needed for the widening of the canal. The increase does give reason to be optimistic, however, given the 3.1% forecast for world economic growth by the IMF.
