PRESIDENT OBAMA SIGNS THE FREE TRADE AGREEMENT WITH PANAMA
October, 26 2011
The president of the United States, Barack Obama, signed the Free Trade Agreement with Panama last week, nine days after it was approved by the US Congress, bringing negotiations over the past eight years to a successful conclusion and the beginning of a new business relationship between both countries. Panama is an important business and security ally that seeks to reach, with the preferential benefits of the agreement, the huge US market. President Obama also signed Free Trade Agreements with Colombia and South Korea.
President Obama looks forward to having the struggling US economy find new export markets and sees this historical event as a great victory for US workers and business, and hopes to have the treaties implemented as soon as possible, perhaps by April 2012.
